Fremantle has long been recognised as a centre for the arts and is justifiably viewed as the cultural epicentre of Western Australia and alongside some of the very well-established museums, galleries and souvenir shops in Fremantle is a growing number of new enterprises. One such concern is the Terrace Greenhouse, located in South Fremantle, that has brought new and vibrant life to a building that had previously stood neglected, empty and uncared for, for many years. Despite the derelict nature of the building, there was a clear vision to lovingly and carefully renovate rather than rebuild and a labour of love was undertaken to create the ideal premises to realise a long-held dream.
The incarnation of the Terrace Greenhouse in this building has been inspired by a passion for gardening and art, and this unique and captivating establishment features one of the most eclectic mixes of plants, handmade gifts and souvenirs that you are likely to encounter anywhere in Perth. Plants are grown in the onsite greenhouse before being made available to purchase at the front of the store; and many of the other goods for sale are the works of local artisans and craftsmen and as such make wonderful, unique gifts or items that will enrich and enhance your own home. When you are need of inspiration for that special gift or simply want to indulge yourself you will be spoilt for choice in this wonderful boutique shop in Fremantle.
But beyond the artisan collection of plants, jewellery and homewares - and situated at the rear of the building, is an area that has been converted into an art gallery that is now firmly established and gracing the Fremantle art scene.
The gallery is an ideal location for Perth based artists and designers to display their work and is available to hire on a weekly basis. Equipped with all the requisite hospitality requirements, such as wine and champagne glasses, ice buckets and crockery, it also features hanging systems and other options for display including easels, plinths and tables. Whether you are an artist, photographer, sculptor - or creator of unique homeware or gift ideas, the Terrace Greenhouse will help you display your work at its very best. The 100m2 gallery is bright and airy, a perfect place for up and coming or established artists to show their work and with no commission charged on sales, is a very affordable option should you have artisan products or artwork for sale in Perth. The gallery is available to hire all year round but is already a highly sought after venue and presently has many bookings for the upcoming months, so do not hesitate to check availability prior to making your booking.
Combining a lifelong love of plants and art has resulted in the Terrace Greenhouse, an establishment which attracts customers and clients from far and wide, looking for locally produced Perth art for sale whilst also taking the opportunity to browse amongst all the other fascinating and wonderful artefacts available in this truly inimitable establishment.
