Wildflower by Gina D’Alessandro
Gina is a local artist and paints full time from her home in Hamilton Hill, WA. She has always had an interest in drawing and painting, studying art at school and classes through TAFE and Fremantle Arts Centre. Gina has a passion for Australian native flora, fauna and landscape. From her own photos she gets her inspiration creating works in her favourite mediums, oils, watercolour and gouache. The closeup compositions of her botanical pieces highlight the beautiful shapes, colours and textures of the plants.
'Each part of the plants lifecycle is so interesting to me. I love exploring the flora on my travels, whether it be in a dramatic landscape, local gardens, parks or roadside driving. I'm fascinated in all the aspects of the plants and trees and try to capture this in my work. Focusing on the flowers and leaves including new and old growth. I love the different stages that they go through and how they change with age, weather and environment. I'm so inspired by nature and always love learning about these amazing plants.'
