Ambient II

A close connection between three friends, Oliver Francis, Sean Hunter and Rob Douglas has led to this exhibition of abstract landscapes expressionism. Oliver Francis’s love of art was sparked by his uncle, a lecturer at the National Art School, who could easily draw anything and his random squiggles and lines captured Oliver’s imagination. Oliver was drawn to the abstract and unrefined and he enjoys the creative process of creating something from scratch. ‘Making Art’ is a relatively new endeavour for him.

Sean Hunter loves recycling old canvases, verge finds and op shop pick-ups to create his art. His art focuses on use of black and white and metallic colours, creating works that are uniquely original and thought provoking. Sean has been preparing for this exhibition for a long time and is excited to show the world his latest collection of work.

Rob Douglas is the experienced member of the group with a career in designing and managing exhibitions at Edith Cowin Universtiy and working with the Perth Festival to construct the City of Lights multimedia installations. Rob has also worked extensively with the Heath Ledger Theatre to produce numerous set and stage installations. Rob joined Book ARI Art Collective in February this year and with other talented artists, has produced challenging and award winning works across numerous disciplines.

Rob is currently focused on abstract expressionism that creates layered surfaces using various conventional and unconventional mediums to create an impasto style body of work. Rob draws influence from Barnett Newman, Mark Rothko, Helen Frankenthaler, Clyfood Still and Frank Auerbach.
