I spend a lot of time looking at the horizon. It’s the small glimpse across the bushes from a little beach house in Yallingup, or the panorama from the lookout above Shallows surf break, It’s the view of every alternative stroke as I ocean swim early in the morning or dash across the road at Yallingup Beach to an always spectacular coast. At the end of the day the witnessing of the evening horizon with its changing colours offers the prospect of a new day, a fresh start and optimism for what lies ahead. An avid amateur photographer I spend a lot of time looking through the lens of the camera waiting for magic moments to reveal themselves.

And they usually do in this beautiful part of the world. While the photographs are specific to Yallingup, the paintings are interpretations of moments that could be anywhere on our WA coast and with this hopefully the viewer will connect with their own memory of time and place.

This exhibition is for my dad. My ocean loving, horizon watching partner in crime who loves a good sky as much as I do.
