Terra Verdis
Jana Vodesil-Baruffi
I didn’t choose art it chose me! Creativity has become a light source I keep turning to in life to keep my sanity, happiness and contentment.
Art gives me an opportunity to express feelings, ideas and values without speaking.
My work can be divided into two categories: Portraits and Landscapes (paintings from my extensive travels).
Throughout the years I have had over 20 solo exhibitions, been part of countless group exhibitions, competitions and won many awards.
The most notable achievement in portraiture was the completion of 50 paintings of significant WA Women. This project was immortalized in a book called Permanent Impressions.
The book won the bronze medal in the Best Regional Non-Fiction category for the 2014 Independent Publisher Book Awards in New York.
In 2017 I was the winner of The Lester Prize in The Black Swan Portraiture competition.
Painting landscapes gives me a needed respite from other works. These realistic and impressionistic works from my travels shows the beautiful world we live in.
I am a founding member of the Contemporary Australian Surrealists Movement in WA as well as a member of WA Portrait Artists society.
My art is exhibited in my studio-gallery Metamorphosis Art Gallery, located at U7/16 Yampi Way, Willetton.
