The Art of Living

June L. Boase [Weller] the Art of Living

A retrospective of over 80 years of art practise

Works include oil, water colour, pen & ink, electronic media, pottery, fabrics.

... since early childhood, then with a background of fine and commercial art, June has had a need to draw and paint the beauty of what she sees. To grow, nurture and record simple cottage flowers and herbs is also a way June expresses her creativity.

... living in Perth, her passion is to paint the vibrancy of light and color of Western Australia: the cooler tones of the South, and the warm heat of the North. The reds and ochres of ancient rock. The swirling sand of dunes and dry riverbeds flanked by white trunks of gums inspire June. She delights in the tenacity of tiny flowers and plants clinging to life in arid regions.

June started her study in 1945 with the result of a Diploma of Fine Art. Melbourne Technical College, Melbourne, Victoria.

She had training in fine art and commercial art. Teachers were from the post-Heidelberg movement and practicing commercial artists.

The Heidelberg School was an Australian art movement of the late 19th century. It has been described as Australian impressionism.

From 1947 June worked as an Art Therapist, Graphic Artist, Freelance Graphic Artist for Myer Internal Stationery [ Melbourne] Calligraphy Artist, Illustrator, Art Therapist and was a member of the Watercolour Society WA from 1993 till 2019.
